Catching Elephant is an awesome theme by Andy Taylor, heavily edited by me.
The anchor step is classically a triple-step over two beats between patterns in West Coast Swing. It is the time between moves for partners to settle into each other’s connection, to ground themselves, and to ready themselves for whatever’s coming next. It’s the breath of the dance.
At the same time, it’s the most commonly improvised, altered, styled part of the dance. It is the time where partners most often choose to add their own musicality and feeling, while still maintaining the connection to move on.

Right now my life is based on trying to find the balance, peace and creativity I feel when dancing and put it into all aspects of my life. I intend to pursue a bachelors and masters in Psychology, and become a counselor for queer people, trans people, sexual assault survivors, and youth. I live with my boyfriend Josh, in Seattle, and I couldn’t be more happy about that.
I blog a lot about queer/trans issues, race, and body politics. I’m not looking to start fights, but if you want to ask questions/start dialogue, I’m all about that. Also, let’s be real here; I’m white and from a middle class background. Please feel free to check me on my privilege at any time.
